Life Philosophies and Moral Issues Class

In this wonderful class I have learned more about key moral issues that help form my life philosophy. Some of these issues include abortion, euthanasia, mercy killing, etc. I now add to my life philosophy that abortion is okay in some rare situations. That's if you’re okay with killing a baby and going to hell for it. Before this class, I was totally against it at any time!

In the following paragraphs will be a brief outline of my life philosophy and views on life, some of which have been shaped by this splendid class, and others that only life itself have taught me.

The first part of my life philosophy is to believe in God. If we believe in God, he can help us in every aspect of our lives and we will be much happier because our life will take new meaning and direction. The bible says “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me”. That is true because God is all powerful and almighty and can help you set and achieve your goals. You can truly do anything if you believe in God. If God can rescue Daniel’s friends from a furnace or part the red sea, your possibilities are endless!

The second part of my life philosophy is to believe in yourself. With out self confidence and belief in you and your abilities, you cant do anything! You are like a lotion bottle without lotion in it. Useless. God gave each one of us talents and skills for us to apply to our everyday lives. If we believe in God and our abilities, we can do anything. It makes God happy when we believe in ourselves and use our talents, especially for

him.

The third part of my life philosophy deals with others. All of humankind is interconnected with at least 1 common ground: We are all made in God’s image and he loves us all. We too are commanded to love one another, and if we keep in mind that God made and loves everyone, we can too. Since all of humankind is connected, if you do a nice thing for someone else, it makes you happy! It will make you happy to see them happy that you helped them get through their day a little easier. So...this means if we are nice to other people, all the time-- we will be so happy all the time. We should strive to be nice to everyone all the time so we can be like Jesus.

The fourth part of my life philosophy deals with making moral decisions. If we are faced with making an important moral decision, we should not despair! All we have to do is look in the Bible for simple answers. Its all in there. If life were a car, the Bible would be the user manual. Thinking of abortion or putting your grandma to sleep? Read the Ten Commandments. It says “Thou shalt not kill”. That's pretty straight forward, yo. Thinking of littering or destroying the earth? Read in Revelation that after a millenium in heaven, heaven will be moved back to earth, so we should take care of it. See? Its so so simple. Any time you are confused, have a question, have to make an important moral decision (or any decision!) consult the Bible. There is no principle that goes unwritten about in it. If it isn't directly written about (i.e. abortion) the principle will still remain (do not murder).

The fifth part of my life philosophy deals with busywork. At Mount Vernon Academy, the teachers really really like to give the students busywork, which doesn't entertain them, doesn't help them learn anything, and isn't really beneficial. We students just have to nod and say “yes sir” or “yes ma’am” because in Christian societies we have learned not to resist authority or question anything, even if it doesn't sound right. But there is one benefit of busywork: points. Since alot of teachers don't like to/want to teach class, they give endless classwork and no homework, so the busy work makes up for it, so in that aspect it is okay. So whenever I am assigned busy work I: Smile, nod and simply do it, even though I am frowning and am very angry on the inside.
