I really like that Purina Beneful dog food bags now come with a resealable zipper top. It keeps my dog’s food fresh, and I dont have to roll the top down or clip it shut.
However, I dont understand why the package of socks I purchased at Walmart today come with a resealable bag top. They are just going in my dresser drawer, and I cannot think of any reason I would need to keep my socks fresh or airtight.

I always wondered the same thing about the socks!

I bet the socks are packaged at a separate facility than which they were manufactured.
I would suppose maybe the socks were made in Bangladesh, shipped to the U.S. in huge plastic-wrapped palettes, then put in individual packages by whatever company bid lowest for the packaging contract — one that just happened to make zip-lock bags.

…..or
There is such a problem with people opening up sock packages in stores and poking holes in them, that the company decided to put them in resealable containers. That way, whenever a unit has been damaged, instead of it being sent back to the packaging facility to be re-wrapped at considerable expense, the socks can be put in a new extra bag in-store.
