Dude, I would friggin’ love a g-mail account, but fear I would not be cool enough to hang with the g-mail crowd. Do you need a special ring, or sword or something?

What do they say on the tv when a station airs a rebuttal to an editorial? Something like “We would now like to present an opposing viewpoint from a responsible spokesperson” or something like that:

    And Merry Christmas!

That sure is a dumb site, John Bowman.

  6. Steven Says:

    it certainly is dumb

I wonder if John Bowman runs his own mail server. I do. That’s the only way to know if messages are ever truly deleted, because check the privacy policy on any email service and you’ll see the exact same thing as gmail. And no, when you delete your messages on gmail, they’re still not deleted. DUUH same for any service, you have to empty the trash. and guess what, trashed & emptied messages have a max lifetime of 30 days, if I recall correctly.

Oh man that whole site makes me laugh, it looks like it was done by a league of ultra paranoid 12 year olds with too much access to clip art and mspaint.

I can read any mail message on my mail server, as can any other mail administrator on their servers.

Every piece of mail that goes through my server is scanned, just like gmail, just like every email service…because that’s how you do spam filtering. google pulling adwords from a database during that scan is really no big deal. oh man the paranoia of some people just makes me astounded.

I use gmail as my primary email because it is ultra fast with an ultra nice interface. EVERY email is insecure, that goes with the medium: the transmission is insecure. You want security and/or privacy? Use PGP - then nobody can read your email but yourself, no matter what mail service you use.

And Merry Christmas to you, too.
